Paoli Dam is a popular Indian Actress who specially appears in Bengali movies but she also appears in Bollywood movies. She is one of the best favourite actresses in the Indian film industry.
She started her acting career with a Bengali television Serial “Jibon Niye Khela” (2003). After that, she started to appear in movies and shows. She made her debut in “Teen Yaari katha”, a Bengali film that began in 2004 but was released in 2012. And she also worked in “Hate Story” which was her first film in Bollywood.
Paoli Dam was born on 4th October 1980 in Kolkata, West Bengal. She belongs to a Hindu Bengali Family which is originally from Faridpur, now in Bangladesh. Amol Dam is the name of her father and Papiya Dam is her mother. She has also a brother, Mainak.
She studied at Loreto School in Bowbazar before Higher Secondary Examination. She was a brilliant student in her school life and won many scholarships.
She has graduated from Kolkata University with a degree in Chemistry. From her childhood, Paoli learnt classical dance and was also interested in theatre but never wanted to become an actress.
Paoli Dam started her acting career from Bengali television Serial. She appeared in some Serials and got popularity and knowledge about acting. Then she appeared such as “Jibon Niye Khela”, “Tithir Atithi”, “Tarpor Chand Uthlo”, ” Sonar Horin”, ” Jaya”, “Mahanayak” etc.
She made her debut in a Bengali film, ” Teen Yaari katha” in 2004, directed by Sudeshna Roy and Abhijit Guha and was released in 2012. She also worked in “Agnipariksha” in 2006. It was her first release film in Bengali which was directed by Ravi Kinagi.
She played a supporting role in that film. After that she appeared in many commercial Bengali movies such as “Tulkalam” and “I Love You” in 2006, “Hochchheta ki”, “Kaalbela”, “Jamai Raja” in 2008, ” Shob Charitro Kalppnik” in 2009, “Bedroom”, ” Elar Char Adhyay” in 2012, “Hoi Choi”, “Promotion” in 2013, ” Chaya Manush”, “Obhishopto Nighty”, “Parapaar” in 2014, “Ajana Batas” in 2015, ” Zulfiqar”, “Khawto”, “Swatta” in 2016, “Tritiya Adhyay”, “Konttho”, “Password”, ” Sanjhbati” in 2019, ” Love Aj Kal Porsu” in 2020 and so many.
Paoli Dam also worked in many Bollywood movies. She made her Bollywood debut in “Hate Story” in 2012, directed by Vivek Agnihotri and produced by Vikram Bhatt. After that she worked such as “Ankur Arora Murder Case”, “Gang of Ghosts”, “Yaara Silly Silly”, “Bulbbul”, ” Raat Baaki Hai” etc.
She also worked in Konkani film “Baga Beach” in 2012, directed by Laxmikant Shetgaonkar. She met the director at the Cannes Film Festival in 2011 and heard the script and liked it.
She also appears in Indian Web Series like “Kaali” in 2018-2020 and “Raat Baaki Hai” in 2021. Both series were released on the Zee5 platform. Paoli Dam married Arjun Dev in 2017 who is a Businessman of Assam.
